So when her birthday rolled around, there was nothing in the world I wanted more than to make her a little treat to let her know how much she means to me. Not that she notices; Moxie is pretty much spoiled all the time. But that's the way I believe it should be.
We actually recently had some photos done together, just celebrating how pretty my girl is.
I love all animals, but my pets (I have Moxie and a cat named Eleanor) are the best in the world. I wouldn't trade them for anything.
For her past two birthdays, I made Pupcakes and then Dog Pretzels. To think, I hadn't made a basic dog biscuit yet. I found a simple recipe; you know, one of my favorite kinds that requires just throwing some things together all at once.
A little bit of flour, an egg, peanut butter, honey, and water all together and we've got dog biscuit cookie dough.
I rolled the dough out on a floured surface - no refrigeration required as it was pretty firm - and cut out the dough. I knew I had some cookie cutters around, but in the interest of time and not wanting to face my lack of organization skills, I used some biscuit cutters. I placed the final cookies out on a tray and baked them for about 18 minutes.
They came out cute, delicious, and we had ourselves a fan in Moxie! I made sure to share some with her doggy friends, giving everyone a little peanut butter treat.
Moxie was ready for sampling.
I had a little extra PB in the jar so gave the cookie a little layer of extra frosting for my girl...
You could say she liked it.
Dog Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour (whole wheat preferred)
1 egg
1 cup peanut butter (use a brand that does not contain xylitol)
2 tablespoons honey
3/4 cup water
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine flour, egg, peanut butter, honey, and water. If the batter is dry, add 1/4 cup more water. Pour the dough onto a well-floured surface and roll out until 1/2 inch thin. Use cookie cutters to cut out cookies and place on a parchment or silicon-lined pan. Re-roll remaining dough out and repeat. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
